Freckles Designs is a small business based in Central Scotland designing and making quality products for you and your dog. All products are made in Scotland by myself, and my seamstress, Avril.
I'm Angela Torrance and I created Freckles Designs in 2011. It developed from making drying coats to raise funds for Springer Rescue for Scotland and then, as the word spread about the drying coats and orders began flooding in, my creative brain kicked in and new ideas started developing and so Freckles Designs was born. I haven't forgotten the roots of Freckles Designs though and I continue to support Springer Rescue for Scotland whenever I can.
The business is named after my first dog Freckles, a Springer Spaniel who sadly passed away due to lung cancer aged just 7 years old in 2012, but her memory and inspiration lives on through Freckles Designs.
I am originally from Yorkshire, but moved to Scotland for University in 1995 and have lived in Scotland ever since, settling in Alloa with my husband and our two rescue spaniels Ollie and Alfie, both adopted through Springer Rescue for Scotland.
We have since added our Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla called Ruadhan born in 2016, and in November 2019 we adopted Tillie a four year old cocker spaniel. Sadly Ollie passed as a result of canine dementia in January 2020.
I have a Finance Degree with Honours from Dundee University and also a Masters degree in Construction Financial Management from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh and worked in the Financial Services sector for 6 years and then as a Quantity Surveyor for nearly 10 years, but it is creating and making things that I really enjoy. I started knitting from a very early age and inherited my first sewing machine when I was 8 years old. I have always loved making things and so decided to combine my love of all things creative with my love of dogs through Freckles Designs.
In my free time I enjoy going for long walks in the Scottish Hills with my dogs, I am a member of Stirling Triathlon Club and also Forth Valley Canicross. Having energetic dogs has been the driving force behind the design of many of my products, creating both functional and practical solutions for the active dog and owner.
I still have lots of ideas for new products, and am always open to suggestions, so keep popping back or follow me on social media to keep updated with all the news.
